In a fashion industry keen on preserving culture, one often comes across designers exploring avant garde techniques with the craftmanship of artisans. Kavita Bhartia’s concept is focused on the idea of unsual dyeing and printing methods for transforming textiles into architectural forms. The relationship between the Karkhana and the Runway; the construction and the presentation is the main theme of her spring summer 2015 collection presented at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
Fabrics like khadi, cotton, georgette and summer lace in soft tones of ivory, natural white, mist green, pink and occasional brights have been used for the creation of sculpted silhouettes that comprise of voluminious skirts, body-contour tops, flowing gowns, asymmetric hemmed dresses, kurtas and jackets.
Surface detailing in the form of tonal thread embroidery, sequins and zardosi work bring out the uniqueness of the her line .
